The Paleosciences at USC converge methods from diverse fields to understand the imprint of the past on present-day biodiversity. Our faculty includes leading researchers in the biological and earth sciences, with expertise ranging from early life, Phanerozoic diversity, mass extinctions, stable isotope geochemistry and climate reconstruction, vertebrate & invertebrate paleontology, functional anatomy & biomechanics, origins & evolution of mammals, dinosaurs & birds, and human origins & behavior.
As the largest university in the densest urban fossil center on the Pacific Coast, USC proudly forms the core of the largest research consortium for the paleosciences in Southern California and around the Pacific Rim.
