The Paleosciences at USC combine fossil evidence with cutting-edge methods from diverse fields to understand the imprint of the past on present-day biodiversity. Our faculty includes leading researchers in the biological and earth sciences, with expertise ranging from early life, mass extinctions and paleoecology, stable isotope geochemistry and climate reconstruction, functional anatomy & biomechanics, origins and evolution of mammals, fossil birds and nonavian dinosaurs, and human origins and behavior.

As the largest university in the densest urban fossil center on the Pacific Coast, USC proudly forms the core of the largest research consortium for the paleosciences in Southern California and around the Pacific Rim.
